Step Places has today announced it has signed the owners of one of Manchester’s favourite cocktail spots, Cottonopolis, as the tenant for its historic Edinburgh Castle pub which forms an anchor position on their Ancoats scheme on the junction of Blossom Street and Henry Street.

Iconic Wigan Pier plans given the go ahead

The next chapter of Wigan Pier’s regeneration story has been written today with members giving the green light to the widely anticipated regeneration proposals at Wigan Council’s planning committee.

The decision means developer Step Places, cultural organisation The Old Courts, Wigan Council and the Canal and River Trust can collectively transform the currently vacant 18th century industrial buildings into a vibrant cultural and residential offer.

Cotton House welcomes first residents

For the past few weeks our Cotton House development has welcomed its first residents. It’s fantastic to see it all finished and to witness the first impressions from the new home owners.

We all knew this is, possibly, the best location in Ancoats, next door to the Cutting Room Square, with new restaurants, shops and coffee houses opening over the past few months.

‘Pop-up-pub’ at Grade II listed bank in Withington

A group of local craft beer lovers have teamed up to launch a ‘pop up pub’ at the site of a former bank in Withington.

The Lock Inn aims to encourage people in the community to come together in an amazing venue to enjoy local beer and bond over food, music and friends. It follows a successful smaller event last year at the same site.

Cutting room tables

Located within the Cutting Room Apartment of our Cotton Square development, lie two tables of historical significance to the Ancoats Area. The old tables were used extensively by machinists and tailors within the thriving old mills to cut out the sewn cloth, and prepare the materials in readiness for distribution and selling. The Cutting Room tables are what gave the now famous Ancoats landmark Cutting Room Square its name.

Cotton Square ground breaking ceremony

Step Places are proud to announce the breaking of ground at our Cotton Square development scheme in Ancoats, Manchester. To mark the occasion a sod-cutting ceremony was held on site, with representatives from Step Places, Eric Wright, and Greater Manchester Combined Authority all in attendance.
