Harinder Dhaliwal

Managing Director

Founder of Step Group Harinder ‘Harry’ is a property person through and through with over 25 years’ experience in the industry. Under his leadership the company has built up a track record of delivering successful, high quality developments throughout the North West and West Midlands. He is passionate about making places and only delivering developments that he would be happy to live in himself. Harry draws inspiration from his travels and has a keen eye for detail, which is reflected in the company’s ethos. In his free time Harry enjoys walking, playing table tennis, exploring the latest designs and exhibitions. Harry is also a self-confessed foodie.

Simon Povah

Construction Director

Having started construction industry at the age of 17 Simon has really worked his way up the ranks. His wide knowledge base on all things construction has been developed working for several of the UK’s leading house builders. In the last two and a half years at the company Simon has helped the business build up its house building division in terms of volume, delivery and quality. His technical knowledge is a great benefit on a daily basis on all our sites. Simon enjoys escaping to the Welsh countryside, where he owns a cottage, with his family at weekends. Alongside this, Simon is a keen Liverpool fan.

Gareth Smith

Development Director

Gareth oversees the planning and funding requirements for various development schemes within the business, and also plays a key role in developing relationships with our joint venture partners in both the public and private sectors. His keen eye for detail ensures that ultimate value is created without compromising on quality. Outside of the office, Gareth has a keen enthusiasm for motor sport, rugby, enjoys cooking all varieties of cuisine and is a Lancashire Lad through and through.

Ryan Booth

Financial Director

Financial Director Ryan oversees the strategic direction of the First Step Group Portfolio. A team player, Ryan enjoys the dynamic nature of his work and is proud to be part of a company delivering such high quality schemes. As a self-confessed glory hunting Oldham Athletic fan Ryan is often in the stands at Boundary Park cheering his team through thick and thin. Ryan also enjoys dining out, often exploring new places and genres of food across the city centre suburbs.

Mahesh Shah

Consultant

Mahesh, a now retired Chartered Accountant, acts as a consultant for Step Places working closely with the financial team to oversee processes, procedures, best practice and compliance, including cooperate governance are in place. Mahesh’s career has spanned over four decades and he has worked for global brands such as Easy Jeans, Euro Car Parts, and recently for a large property company in the hospitality and investment sector, where he worked within an active development team. Mahesh is a bit of an explorer having visited many of the world’s greatest cities, such as New York, Tokyo, Sydney and Rio de Janeiro. He often likes to coincide his travels with his love of cricket, so you might bump into him at the next cricket world cup.

Anu Vedi - CBE

Non-Executive Director

As former CEO and Financial Director of Genesis Housing Association, Anu is one of the most highly experienced accountants within the property sector and as a result has been awarded honorary membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing (MCIH). Under Anu’s leadership Genesis Housing Group grew to one of the largest housing enterprises in the UK and has been recognised for his achievements being made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), for the innovation in the sector. Anu’s strategic and visionary leadership has been invaluable in helping grow the Step Places portfolio and financial modelling. Anu gives much of his time to charities, as he was the Chairman of the World Child Cancer charity from 2014 to 2017. He is also an avid cricket fan having played from a young age but now can be found cheering on his beloved India.

Lynn Keegan

Office Manager

Having been at the company for nine years Lynn has achieved the status as the go to person in the office. Lynn says “I enjoy people and the diversity of it all. I feel I am appreciated and allowed to take initiative to get things accomplished”. Lynn is inspired by the influence that her hard work can have on others in the team, encouraging Step Places to deliver the highest level of product to end users. Away from work Lynn enjoys spending time with her family and taking a well earned break relaxing on a beach in Tenerife.

Ryan Hoolihan

Finance Manager

With a strong background in retail finances Ryan has recently joined Step Places, making his transition into the property sphere. Responsible for the Accounts Assistants team, Ryan oversees the day to day running of all financial processes, whilst also providing input into key strategic company reports. Outside of work Ryan is a keen sports fan, having been to watch British Formula 1 Grand Prix, and NFL & NHL matches in America last year. We just don’t mention his choice of football team.

Andrew Bowler

Accounts Assistant

Andrew is still in the midst of undertaking his accountancy studies. He finds that his role in the company is gaining him a variety of relevant experience towards his studies. He says that the job satisfaction he has enjoyed here can be put down to learning new things, helping him to continue his personal development. A keen runner he can also be found out at weekends listening to the next up and coming bands.

Christian Millington

Development Assistant

Recent graduate Christian is the newest recruit to the Step Places team, and provides valuable assistance to our current development projects. From appraisals to market research, Christian is relishing his opportunity to gain valuable working experience within the property sector. Outside of work Christian is a keen tennis player, both playing and coaching at his local club in Prestwich. In order to keep the office perfectly balanced, Christian represents the blue side of Manchester in his football allegiance being a keen City fan.
