We have listened to the people’s comments and ideas about the future parking in area and the layout of the connecting roads. Our proposals include sufficient car parking for residents and visitors without dominating the look or feel of the local centre. Braeburn Drive has been built to provide access to the local centre, as part of the wide Appleton Cross development area, and will be extended through the site. Appleton Cross proposes a safe and suitable highways and parking strategy for residents and visitors using existing accesses and future proofing an access to the south.

Our Aim
- To ensure easy, safe, and accessible parking that contributes to the success of the new Appleton Cross Local Centre
- To ensure that the new roads support the development of a sustainable, accessible, and well-connected community.
- To provide streets that support residential and mixed-use areas with slower traffic and pedestrian-friendly features and landscape parking.
Parking & Road Network measures will include
- Roads of a suitable standard for multiple modes of transport: walking, cycling and cars.
- Integrated wide pavements, and safe crossing points
Utilising accesses off Braeburn Drive to serve the development. As well as future proofing an additional access to the future D Link road that will serve the wider South East Warrington Urban Extension.
- Street trees and kerb extensions to improve pedestrian safety and aesthetics.
- Parking will be provided to support the daily flow of visitors to shops, services, and the health centre
- Areas for deliveries and waste collection.
- Encourage active travel, with good connections for walking and cycling. As well as providing convenient and secure cycle parking.
- Clear signage and lighting to ensure safety and convenience at all times- with improved connections between Green Lane and the adjacent play areas.
